The North Laurel Animal Hospital is proud to introduce Margarita Knowlton and Alternative Paws Animal Massage to our service lineup.  Why would I get a massage for my pet you may ask?  The fact is animal massage is extremely pleasurable and relaxing to humans and pets alike. A massage session significantly reduces stress levels and muscle tension by manipulating the soft tissues, muscles and ligaments of the body, contributing the overall improvement of body functioning.

About Animal Massage

Maintenance animal massage, similar to human Swedish massage, involves the physical manipulation of tissues through a variety of techniques. Massage in conjunction with proper veterinary care, facilitates the animal’s healing and regeneration process, keeping muscles healthy and pets happy.

Any animal regardless of age or activity level can benefit from a massage. Regular massage can help increase flexibility and enhance muscle tone. It assists in the functions of the circulatory system; helping to supply nutrients and oxygen to the tissues and carrying away waste products. In summary, massage enhances all the body system’s actions resulting in a balanced, happier pet.  For a demonstration, please take a moment to view the following video.  In this video Petie Cohn (calm pitbull) and Shorty Cohn (uber-hyper Chow mix) receive massages:

Margarita will be scheduling appointments at the North Laurel Animal Hospitals every Thursday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.  If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call our staff at (301) 953-7387 or visit the Alternative Paws website at www.AlternativePaws.com.  Thanks!
