If you are interested in adopting a new pet, consider consider doing so from a local animal shelter. Many pets who enter shelters are euthanized within 72 hours due to massive overpopulation and budget constraints. Remmember, a pet born to a breeder will never be homeless but a pet in a shelter has a very limited time to live.
Locally, pets can be found at the Howard County Animal Shelter, BARCS in Baltimore and a host of other local shelters. We currently partner with the Maryland SPCA (not affiliated with the ASPCA). They are a no kill shelter in Baltimore which accepts dogs and cats and works on a donation and fundraising basis.
Ask our staff for more shelters/rescues in the area.
